A product is defined as counterfeit when it has been obtained by imitating other products that are patented and / or affixing writings and images owned by other subjects, without having obtained permission.
Customs is one of the bodies responsible for controlling and suppressing the traffic of counterfeit goods and can do so on its own initiative or at the request and/or report of producers who believe that the goods that are about to be imported may be counterfeit. Goods recognized as counterfeit are usually seized and destroyed.
