Import-export customs clearance at the Swiss border

Our customs offices at Chiasso Brogeda, Stabio-Gaggiolo, Ponte Tresa and Gaggiolo-Clivio operate Monday to Friday with continuous hours. A team of over 20 specialised customs declarants handles hundreds of operations daily: definitive imports, temporary admissions, T1/T2 transits, Regime 42 for intra-EU VAT exemption, inward and outward processing, and duty-free reimports.

Franzosini's AEO status ensures a very high green channel clearance rate — no physical inspection — drastically reducing border waiting times.

Customs classification and tariffs

Classification according to Swiss customs tariff (Tares) and 8-digit HS code. In Switzerland, duties are calculated by gross weight (CHF per 100 kg), not by value as in the EU. Since 1 January 2024, Switzerland abolished industrial tariffs: most goods are subject only to import VAT (8.1% standard, 2.6% reduced). PCD centralised customs account management for deferred payment.

Customs documentation and certificates

EUR.1 certificates, origin declarations, ATR certificates (Turkey), T2L documents, ATA Carnets, e-dec export declarations. Specialist support for CITES, dual-use, chemicals (REACH), food, pharmaceuticals (Swissmedic) and war material (SECO).
